Self-Care services at the 2017 Healing VT Retreat (ASL)

In the past, Self-Care services have included: Massage, Reflexology, Energy Healing (Reiki), talk Therapy and Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT - aka Tapping)!

These trauma-informed trained professionals are all located on-site and are available for your support and healing process during the retreat hours.

Self-Care services are an inclusive service and are provided at no additional out-of-pocket costs to you!*

We will also offer additional on-site activities as well (a Tour of the American Mountaineering Museum, Rock Climbing Class, Yoga Class, etc.) for additional CEUs.

FAQ: "Why will a therapist be on-site? Will the Retreat be that intense?!"

We feel strongly it is our responsibility as facilitators of healing that you have a safe and confidential space to discuss anything IF something comes up for you and/or if you are triggered from something we discuss during the workshop. We also know that you may need to process it right then and there before being able to move on with the next information and as presenters, unfortunately, we may not be available to do that in that moment. So we decided to ensure a trusted and trained professional be present who can do that for you. We are dedicated to being responsible stewards of healing trauma and that means being conscious of every aspect of your well-being and being prepared for anything to happen.

FAQ: "How much do the Self Care Services cost?"

All of the Self-Care Services provided during the Retreat are completely confidential and included in your Registration! *No additional fees!
*Cash gratuity will be accepted and encouraged for all Self Care Practitioners.
We love them and are excited that they are here - let's show it and support them generously!
Please note that these services are modified and aren't full versions of the services. However, some Practitioners will also be available for full private sessions if you would like to hire them separately. This will be coordinated between the two of you directly.

FAQ: "What does 'Trauma-informed' mean? Why is it so important?"

All of the providers are trained in trauma-informed approaches and are either deaf or signing professionals.
Trauma-informed approaches are a structure and treatment framework that involves understanding, recognizing, and responding to the effects of all types of trauma. This means that no matter what comes up for you, the Self Care Practitioners will be able to respond appropriately with compassion and holding space for your healing process.

What past participants have shared about their experiences...

"The presenters provided a safe, comfortable environment, and were able to strike a balance between following a well-organized agenda, while encouraging and respecting the need to allow longer discussions or provide space and time for self-reflection and solitude."

I registered for this workshop with very little knowledge of Vicarious Trauma but, knowing the presenters, I was certain it would be an informative workshop and a fulfilling weekend and they didn't disappoint!  It was a powerful weekend full of valuable information and "a-ha moments".

Developing an understanding of and the ability to identify Vicarious Trauma is critical in our profession.  More importantly, possessing the tools and strategies to process and cope with Vicarious Trauma when confronted in the future is both reassuring and empowering.

The presenters provided a safe, comfortable environment, and were able to strike a balance between following a well-organized agenda, while encouraging and respecting the need to allow longer discussions or provide space and time for self-reflection and solitude. At the start I was excited to meet and spend time with colleagues I respect but didn't know well. Over the course of the weekend we developed friendships and a support system and I am grateful for the opportunity to share the experience with them - for their vulnerability, humor, and honesty. It was a fantastic workshop and a worthwhile weekend for both personal and professional development.
